IrfanView isn't likely to support this, video support isn't even its specialty or purpose.īatch renaming is actually pretty fast/simple. You can also try other third-party software that is better suited for this. Many times the format is necessary to work with the camera equipment instead of a more common format that would be more useful to the consumer. I would use the supplied software that came with the camera, which has the best compatibility to open/edit/convert this unique format. The wrapper might have some other function, requiring a program that can understand this method. Sometimes you can just change the unique extension, sometimes you can't. Even though it is just a MPEG-2 file, it is still using the MOD file wrapper. MOD is a special format and that usually requires special software to work with it. If you still have no luck, then it is possible that MOD is simply not supported. If that doesn't work, then you probably need a MPEG-2 video codec to assist IrfanView (IrfanView doesn't actually play anything, it calls on other components installed on your computer). You could try going to Properties/Settings>Video/Sound tab and check Use DirectShow for playing.
